Apart from the with minor issues we did have staff were amazing, pool was drained for cleaning.

Private Onsen was amazing. Very Luxurious Hotel. Courtesy bus & Driver was great.

No coffee available to access throughout the day when needed. No USB charging points in room.

A hotel with a priceless view. A true Japanese experience not to be missed.

The views from this hotel are amazing. Our room looked out to Miyajima Island and the Tori Gate. We loved watching the sun go down in the main foyer looking out over the water while listening to live jazz and sipping drinks at the lounge bar. The private Onsen was beautiful which also looked over the water which you can book for an extra cost. The room was quite large for Japanese standard accommodation and very comfortable. Yes it is a bit dated but completely functional and clean. Breakfast and dinner in the dining room was very traditional with great service. We also paid for a boat trip out to the Tori Gate after dinner which was magical. The staff don’t speak much English but they were helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel for the experience and location. This was a true highlight of our trip.

Beautiful view overlooking the water and an amazing, multicourse dinner! Also appreciated the shuttle that runs continuously to the station/ferry

Had a retro feel which was quaint, but some of the facilities were outdated.

We stayed in a traditional Japanese room which was quite comfortable compared to others we have stayed in. I would stay

The property and rooms had a great view of Miyajima island. The public baths were nice as well with separate areas for men and women. They had an extensive store and the staff were very accommodating. They also had a shuttle to and from the closet JR station which was very convenient.

We were there for one night and checked in just before 9pm. Everything was closed (the bar). It would have been nice to be able to have a drink.

We advise to visit.

Location is excellent for visiting Miyajima, especially because of the shuttle bus, to the station/ferry. Breakfast is superfluous, mainly Japanese, but OK if you go for Western. We also like a Japanese bath. Rooms are large, the bathroom isn't. Dinner was really excellent, Japanese high cuisine.

Well, the hotel looks a bit like it has known better times, although nothing to really worry about.

Wonderful views and big open spaces

The hotel is old style but charming. The views from the water side rooms are spectacular so I highly recommend booking an ocean view room. In fact you can see the famous floating torii from the room but also from the fabulous outdoor deck. The sunrise was gorgeous. I appreciated the minibus that takes you directly to the station (and ferry to Miyajima island). I also recommend the excellent evening boat cruise to see the Torii at night. A truly magnificent sight.

Keep tables aside for hotel guests. The hotel attracts big tour groups so I was not able to eat in the restaurant until a later booking.

Overall great experience! Just be aware of the below to ensure it fits into what you are hoping for!

The balcony was nice to be outside and have the view of Miyajima island. There was a wide variety of breakfast foods. Staff was super kind and helpful. The hotel was dated, but clean!

We had some trouble with the air conditioner in our room: the controls were hard to find, but also once we found and turned on it did not really work, made for a real warm night haha We had to book the private onsen, because we have tattoos and were unable to go into the public. I understand this is a cultural thing and respect that, however many public onsen these days are fine with tattoos, so it just would have been nice for that to be communicated earlier (part of the reason we chose Aki was for the onsen use). Because of this we had to book the private onsen instead, which was lovely, however not truly an onsen. You can't actually shower or bath in it, it is basically a hot tub experience (again, beautiful but not what we were hoping for).

The view from our room was breathtaking, offering a picturesque panorama that elevated the entire experience. The location, nestled on the coast of Miyajima, was not only convenient but also added a touch of magic to our stay.

While the overall experience at this hotel was memorable, it's worth noting that the rooms seemed a bit dated and could benefit from some renovations. The décor and furnishings appeared a bit worn, which, while not detracting significantly from comfort, left room for improvement. A modern touch through renovations would undoubtedly elevate the overall aesthetic and enhance the guest experience.

Hotel which brings you good service, good view and good old days

Read some bad comment from the internet, but I think the hotel is much better than what I expect. Free shuttle from JR station, take around just 5min; staff at shuttle, front desk and restaurant are all helpful and polite; an old hotel with 80s styled lobby, but the facilities are well-kept or renovated; room is old, but the bed, furniture and toilet are all ok and clean; they provide new hair dryer and USB ports in the room, I think that is very considerate; great sea view; nice onsen

You have to walk around the room to switch off all the lights, which brings you back to the life in 80s; The control for the air conditioning is a bit challenging; there were so many grandpa and grandma in the hotel during my stay, which I had nearly nothing left for breakfast when I got to the restaurant at 8:30am ????

Luxurious experience viewing Miyajima Island

I splurged to reserve the japanese style room with a sea view and it was one of the most beautiful rooms I've ever stayed in. The view is unmatched - the balcony looks out over the ocean at Miyajima Island with views of the oyster farms, the forested mountain, and the floating torii gate. The food was very good at both dinner and breakfast, although the menu is in Japanese and has no allergy info. The views in the whole hotel are quite luxurious and beautiful, reminiscent of a golden age of hotels. The yukata are comfortable and the room was very large and clean. The onsen was also quite nice. Note that this hotel is not on Miyajima Island and is on the main island in Miyajimaguchi (but that means you get to look at Miyajima from the hotel.)

It is a significant distance from most things. The closest conbini is a 7-10 minute walk crossing a busy street, there aren't many restaurants nearby, and the train stations are both about a 15-20 minute walk to the station. There is a shuttle but it only runs every 30 minutes between Miyajimaguchi station, and I was never actually able to catch it. There are also no outlets in the main room except by the coffee machine. As mentioned in some other comments, the bar also closes quite early. This makes it hard to charge things like phone/batteries/etc. Night cruise was pretty cool, but a bit pricey at 2000 yen for ~30 minutes. If you're able to see the torii gate during the day, it may not be worth it, especially if you don't speak Japanese. It was quite cold when I went as well, so note to dress warm on the water. This is definitely a pricey stay, but is a relatively luxurious experience. It is also a note that most of the staff doesn't speak English, but they are very kind in trying to communicate via Google Translate.

Extremely nice view! The food (both dinner and breakfast) was excellent. Nice, large room for 3 adults + baby.

Grand old hotel well worth your time, like an aging pop star...

It was a wonderful room, with a great view. The facilities were older, but clean. The food was very good.

As a non smoker and an asthmatic, I really did not like the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the corridors.

The night boat cruise was awesome. Otherwise, it was a little tired and not close to train station. There was a shuttle that we weren’t aware of on the way in that would have been helpful. Restaurant/Food was just ok.

Great staff and facilities, however would be great with individual room heating/airconditoning!

Great staff and free shuttle bus from Miyajimaguchi Station running every 30min (bus is in parking lot to the right when exiting station). Amazing traditional style dinner and buffet breakfast included in price as well!

The taps in the bathroom were slightly leaky and the central heating system was really inconvenient. As someone who prefers to sleep in colder temperatures it wasn’t a great rest.

Beautiful views from tatami rooms in slightly aging hotel

The tatami room was huge and the view over the water was lovely. Futons were comfortable and the double sink bathroom was fun. There was a shuttle bus to and from Miyajimaguchi port, which was very convenient.

The exterior of the building as well approached looked quite run-down, and there was a pretty dated feel to most aspects of the hotel, so it was a bit less luxurious than the photos suggested. Several restaurants but no bar to drink at in the evening.

Traditional Ryokan with onsen. Good service and dinner

Charmingly designed with tradition, big hotel. Had good sea view. Enjoyed the dinner and cruise. Onsen was quite empty at dinner time so peace and quiet

Hotel is not that new so some minor details are ‘a bit old school’. But that’s fine if you take it as ‘traditional’. There are some parts they spruce up.

Nice hotel but bar not open

Great location, lovely views across to the island and friendly staff

The bar opening hours were erratic and limited. On both evenings we were unable to get a drink before dinner as bat was already closed. Maybe Japanese people don’t want a pre-prandial but there’s a lovely big bar area with beautiful views and it wasn’t really open. Given the location it was a shame not to have a view from the onsen
